Mass Effect 3 is an action role-playing game developed by BioWare and published by Electronic Arts for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

In the opening scene you are asked to appear before the committee from then on be prepared for full scale war. The only way to described the start is bloody brilliant. Absolute hell brakes out while you speak to the committee. Good Luck you are going to need it, from here on in… Enjoy …

If you have previous saves from both Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2 you are given the option of importing them into Mass Effect 3. Importing your previous saved games will help influence how the final chapter is experienced.

There are 3 pre-set campaign modes: Action Mode, Story Mode, and RPG Mode. In Action Mode, conversations have automatic replies and combat difficulty is ranked as normal. With the Story Mode,

interaction with others have manual replies with difficulty level minimal. In RPG Mode, this is the particular mode I prefer, interaction has manual replies and combat difficulty mode is normal. If you want to experience a typical Mass Effect experience then this last mode is the one to play. Overall, the RPG elements in the game are much improved over those in Mass Effect 2. There is also a more detailed leveling up system and increased weapon customization. Oops lets not forget about romance that fits in nicely with the warfare.

Taking cover has been improved upon. There is no need to hit cover before jumping over now all you need to do is hit the space bar twice as you approach and Shepard will gracefully hop over. Moving around the world you find yourself in offers more options, one is the use of climbable ladders move toward a ladder and Shepard will oblige by climbing it, you have a combat roll and a refined sprint capability.

All in all this in one game you can really get your teeth into. Don’t take my word for it, I guess I’m biased, play it for yourself and see. Whether you want hard core action, or play more to-ward the story mode with a decreased difficulty level or like me enjoy playing from the RPG mode… try it and see … If you have often thought about playing and just never got round to it this is your last chance. This is the final chapter in the Mass Effect trilogy of video games, completing the story of Commander Shepard.

Game Bug

I have come across what I think is a bug. If you are experiencing sound problems after the Bio Logo runs, by problem I mean no sound at all. Here’s how I solved it.

In the search programs bar on the desktop, after clicking start, search for the Mass Effect3 EXE. Right click the file and pick pin to Main Menu click and play… enjoy … Don’t pin it to the task bar for some reason if you do the program will run without sound after the BioWare Logo loads.

Note:

My only criticism is to EA themselves and the problems they selfishly created for those of us who ordered special edition copies from Game, not to mention Game themselves, when they refused to a supply and return deal that other software companies agreed-to which they felt was needed in our precarious economy at this moment in time, and maybe long in to future policies, when a lot of firms big and small are going under leaving many people out of work.

Two Worlds II is a role-playing video game developed by Polish video game developer Reality Pump and published by TopWare Interactive as a sequel to the 2007 game Two Worlds.

A real-time role-playing game that takes place in an open non-linear fantasy world and like its predecessor you the player star as the Hero.

Your adventure starts when Orcs that would usually see humans dead free you from Gandohar’s dungeons. From then on its a race to not only save and free your sister you have also got to… yes you guessed it… free the world of Antaloor and your sister from the evil intent of Gandohar. Visit varying landscapes as you battle your way across the world of this Hugh video game.

From game start you can customize your player, from the shape of his face to skin color. Your character gains experience as you proceed through the game completing quests and defeating enemies. The points you receive as you level up can be used to improve your main statistics which are strength (combat), endurance (health and damage), accuracy (ranged), and willpower (magic) while also unlocking and improving various other skills and abilities such as forging items, special combat moves, sneaking. Brewing complex potions mix and use powerful spells.

This game may had some bad press but I would say play it yourself before judging. Absolutely everything you find, take off of bodies or steal can be used to make armour, weapons and character traits stronger.

The only thing that left me puzzled was the collection of Rune Stones you are asked to seek out and return to home base.

If like me you can find good in any RPG. I would recommend Two Worlds II. …Enjoy…

Are you an RPG fan? if so then I would surely recommend Risen.

Deep Silver and developer Piranha Bytes (PB) have put together an excellent Role Play. The game starts where you survive a shipwreck and wake up lying among the dead bodies of the crew. You have been deposited on the volcanic island of Faranga which turns out to be the backdrop for this excellent RPG. With only minor flaws I think it is a worthy sequel to the Gothic series.

The flexibility this game offers the Hero/you is brilliant, even if you don’t know what you are supposed to be doing or for that matter why you are there. You can follow the story-line or go your own way. Hell, you could probably go from one side of the island to the other killing everything that moves and still meet the end boss. Having said that you would be putting aside an excellent RPG for wholesale slaughter (not my cup of tea so to speak).

Combat action can be harsh, if not dammed difficult at first, left click to use your weapon or right click to defend combo. However, with a little bit of inginuety and using the games surroundings you don’t need to end up surrounded by three or four giant beasties/enemies.

If you like to wander then I would recommend looking around the island. Go any and everywhere. before accepting the Bandit camp or Harbour Town, the story will wait for you so explore. Collect anything and everything magic, weapons, food, plants, wolf skins, the list goes on, especially before entering Harbour Town as getting out again is another matter and some of your collected items will come in handy. Blooming lovely graphics no, excellent graphics and an excellent story-line unfolds as you move further inland.

As time goes on you will need to choose which faction you follow. The first one is the Inquisition, a clerical order that was dispatched to the island to explore the sudden appearance of monsters. The other is an outlaw faction that has been exploring dungeons and selling the artifacts within on the black market. Kai Rosenkrantz, producer at Piranha Bytes, best known for the popular Gothic series comments “You don’t really know who the bad guys are, you have to figure it out, and the more you uncover, the more you may reconsider your choice of sides“. Regardless of what you decide, there will be a large number of options available to you.

From Wild Dogs to Dwarves, Skeletons to Monsters and some of the weirdest looking creatures you just don’t mess with, until you are sure you can win. As for which faction is good or which is evil well, you tell me I am still trying to make my own mind up as to which side I’ll join. Why? well there both as bad as each other and its up to you how the story progresses and the experiences you encounter. The designers say that they’re aiming for at least sixty hours of play for each faction, meaning that there will be a large amount of re-playability for players to check out within the game. OH!… I nearly forgot don’t p–s off to many NPC, especially the traders. If you don’t have a joke scroll/spell you will find your self at the point of their sword… With an in-depth dialogue system and your actions determining NPC reactions this game is a must for RPG Fans.

If you played the first game then you will be familiar with the storyline, F.E.A.R 2 continues its supernatural suspense story of the supernatural being, Alma, who is set to take on and replace reality with her own.

You play a Delta Force operator, Michael Beckett, whose squad is sent in to take Genevieve Aristide into protective custody. In true gaming style that’s as far as you get to even coming close to Aristide. From then on you battle through various levels always close to, be never quite catching up to the sneaky, illusive Genevieve Aristide.

If you did not play the game first time round, fear (excuse the pun) not this will not stop your enjoyment. The game and storyline are brilliant, intelligent enemies, armour-clad forcefield protected robots that take a little thought to kill, the environment lends itself to combat opportunities available to both you and your enemies, there’s slow mo which uses Becketts enhanced reflexes, as well as enhanced graphics to add realism to the action horror

My personal favourites are the Elite Powered Armour and the nail gun, they both deliver. I’m not a great fan of FPS, so just maybe, I’m easy pleased, if that is the case then I will be happy in my ignorance. The only complaint I have is the poorly thought out ending, if that’s what it is… an ending I mean. Never the less F.E.A.R 2 pushes all the right buttons. Myself I would put it on equal par with Bioshock, yet another brilliant FPS, (as far as I am concerned).

While playing through the chosen character background you are introduced to Duncan the leader of a group of warriors known as the Grey Wardens. From then on Duncan leads you to becoming a Grey Warden. This elite band of warriors have dedicated their lives to the destruction of the Darkspawn. Who are a force of demon-like creatures, living underground and have at various points in history invaded the surface world and earned the title of the Blights.

You then, with Duncan, make the journey to Ostagar in southern Ferelden. Here the intention is to join King Cailan of Ferelden to make a stand against the Darkspawn. Duncan’s senses lead him to believe the gathering of the Darkspawn is the first true Blight in 400 years and is being influenced by an Archdemon.

We are jumping the gun a little. Before you get to battle the Blight, you and other initiates need to be ordained into the Wardens by undergoing a dangerous ritual called the Joining. This ritual involves the consumption of Darkspawn blood, a powerful poison. By consuming the blood a prospective warden places their life at great risk in order to attempt to tap into the supernatural means of communication the Darkspawn use and become able to sense the presence of Darkspawn. From here on in things go from bad to worse and the order of the day is for you to put it right.

Your goal is to build a new army from a myriad of factions located in the Ferelden area who the Grey Wardens have treaties with and believe me that is not as easy as it sounds. Suffice to say your actions in this game do effect the outcome. However, at the end of the day Ferelden’s political unrest is settled and the kingdom is ready to face the Darkspawn at Denerim.

As I have not reached the end game yet I do not wish to know any-more than I have already spoke about. My advice, for what it is worth go out and buy this game if you like the R.P.G. genre. Enjoy it. You won’t be disappointed!
