I feel another weird post coming on…

Have you ever open your door to answer someone knocking and found it was not that long awaited parcel. Instead you find yourself face to face with two individuals preaching the bible.

Well this happened yesterday to my wife. why she let them get her into a debate on what god wants or what god doesn’t want I do not know. Normally she would tell them politely she carried her faith close to her chest, did not like talking about it to strangers, especially cold canvassing Jehovah Witnesses/Creationists, say goodbye and shut the door.

This post is about part of what was said during their conversation.

My better half touched on the subject of Adam and Eve and their two sons Kane and Able, suggesting to the canvassers something I had said to her a few weeks ago. that the story of Adam and Eve and how they got themselves kicked out of the Garden of Eden, had two sons (no daughters) and supposedly these four people populated the earth or something along them lines was just a child’s bedtime story of the times so long ago (Be a good little person or you may end up losing your most revered possession and go to Hell). or something along them lines.

Lucas Cranach the Elder-Adam and Eve 1533

Their response was that Adam and Eve did have daughters but this part of the bible had been delibretly omitted by person or persons unknown to suit there own agenda at that particular point in time.

If you hold your religious beliefs close to your chest and have a closed mind to debate I would suggest you read no further.

Well here goes… If we did evolve from Adam and Eve what would that say about the life and times of Adam and Eve. The bible states that Adam and Eve were cast out of the garden of Eden and banished to what we call Earth, after naughty Eve eat from the forbidden apple tree. They then went on to have two sons, not daughters, sons, Kane and Able, now correct me if I’m wrong, but to have a baby it takes two, normally one man and one woman (or it would have done way back then).

Now if these four people were a start to the human race before anybody else could come along, one man and one women had to get together to make three. (I wonder if you are ahead of me) assuming Adam and Eve alone could not populate earth, then Eve’s sons must have taken over when Adam needed a rest. Inter family – breeding is also known as incest.

This was put to the Jehovah/creationist’s their response was that parts of the bible had been deliberately omitted by person or persons unknown to suit there own agenda at some particular point in time.

I was taught that both Adam and Eve were children of God so I suppose that makes then brother and sister, so that would mean their children were born of incest, and even if they had daughters it would still mean any children born would be from incest. But Eve had been created by taking a rib bone from Adam so how can she be his sister I hear you say… OK so where does that leave us. Well if you don’t dot the I’s or cross the T’s and believe that Adam and Eve did exist at the dawn of time, then you also accept that Eve was created from a rib bone of Adam. So it does not take to big a leap to wonder if good old Adam was having sex with himself and gave birth to Kane and Able… by proxy

At least it would explain why I feel from time to time that a minority of the population has gone to hell in a shopping basket.

Before you get all hot and bothered about what I have wrote remember I did say I had a weird imagination and as science will undoubtedly prove one day, if it hasn’t already, Adam and Eve never existed so what is said is said and does not matter anyway. O’ by the by I was raised as a Catholic but that does not mean I can not question my own faith when the boat appears to be full of holes.

For those of you who read my last post Train Of Thought you may remember I finished with closing the cage door. While I was writing that particular post I got to thinking If there is no God or afterlife then where do we go from here.

My thoughts go back in time to the days when cave men became a dominant feature on Mother Earth. If you watch these television documentaries we are told that cave paintings from way back in time depict images of Aliens dropping from the sky in what appears to be… dare I say it?.. flying saucers, and other such futuristic images.

If this is true, and they are there for all to see, perhaps we would be rather silly if not naive to think we are the only intelligent life forms in this vast Universe/Galaxy of ours.

Now supposing these cave painting are fact of what did happen long ago, this could then imply that we were deposited here on Mother Earth in our early stages of development by highly intelligent Alien Beings. Not because we had a part to play in this vast universe/galaxy, but purely as an experiment. Yes, an experiment to see if left alone how we would develop over the centuries while our masters looked on enjoying what they saw, very much like we do with our pets: dogs, cats, rabbits what ever your preference. Is it possible these Super Beings are our masters and we are their pets and Earth is our cage. Now centuries later we are close to visiting the stars our-selves and just maybe, unknown to us, this is where the fun begins.

Suppose we are the pet project of Super Beings, who for many centuries have watched their experiment grow. Could we now be seen as an experiment gone wrong,? has the speed of our evolutionary processes surprised our masters (caught them napping)? Have we been allowed out to play to often? Have we gone passed the expectations of our masters?, have we now become a threat to our masters?, are we now in a position to take our dog eat dog nature to the stars and beyond, so we can infect the rest of those unknown inhabitants of other worlds? are our masters now regretting their experiment of centuries ago?, are they looking on wondering how to stop us?, … So many unanswered questions… Maybe the time is fast approaching and our masters now know of away to stop us reaching the stars and beyond.

The reported sighting of flying saucer shaped craft are just the fore-runner of what is to come. Maybe the day when our masters close the cage door on their experiment permanently, is fast approaching stopping us infecting the rest of the Universe, and watch on as we destroy ourselves…

Well I do say somewhere on this website that I have a weird imagination. Good night, sleep tight watch the bugs don’t bite… Bye for now.

I came across the following eerie story in an old newspaper clipping (Shields Gazette 2005). The story was wrapped around Boldon Colliery Pit.

Boldon Colliery used to be a mining village in the North East of England. The village, more like a small town these days, is still there, but the mine workings were closed in the early 1980′s and has since been replaced with what I would call a beautiful forest and nature trail walk. Despite the closure this story of ghostly happenings seems to have stood the test of time.

When Boldon Colliery Pit closed in 1982 there were only two coal seams being worked. However back in the 1950′s, when this ghost story came to life, there were four seams being worked, these being (I think as paper clipping wasn’t too good) The Yard, Bensham, Five Quarter and Hutton.

There was a fifth seam called Beaumont which was no longer in use and had not been worked since 1869. It is the Beaumont seam that give rise to the story.

As it goes three young miners were busy doing what miners did on a coal seam, when one of them decided it was time to take his bait (lunch break). He headed off to find a nice quiet place to have his bait when he became aware of footsteps behind him. He turned, and seeing no-one there he continued on his way only to hear the footsteps behind him once again. Quickly turning again he still found no-one there.

A little later he mentioned his odd experience to his two mates and was surprised to find that they themselves had experienced the ghostly footsteps. Laughing the experience off, it would appear, was the wrong thing to do. Just a few days later while working the three young men heard cries coming from a distance. Thinking someone had been injured the men went to the rescue. Following the cries they arrived at the old Beaumont coal face. Here the cries for help stopped. feeling a little unnerved the men walked away only to hear the cries start up again louder than ever.

The newspaper cutting went on to say that the story was soon the talk of the village and the three young miners were adamant that they hadn’t been the victims of a practical joke.

The reporter himself thinks the young miners could have heard a replay of a tragic accident. Back in 1873 John Wardle was employed at Boldon as a driver guiding horses on the main road underground. Mr Wardle, only 12 years of age at the time, was working near the Beaumont seam when unwisely he attempted to alight from the truck while it was still being drawn by the horses.

Sadly young Mr Wadle was crushed between the truck and the coal face, his cries for help as he lay dying, could be heard throughout the rest of the pit. The reporter himself feels that this is what the three young miners had heard, or maybe the eerie cries of other miners who had died at the Beaumont seam before it closed.

One of the young miners involved was a Mr Chris Lawler who according to the news clipping has since long ago moved to the Midlands. As for his two friends, the reporter is unaware of their location.

Since this report was made in 2005 the reporter may have gotten his wish for the men involved to get in touch with him… I don’t know.

Although the mine shaft at Boldon Colliery has been filled in I am left wondering if the cries can still be heard and how lonely, sad and terrifying it must be to be buried underground with no-one ever to answer your cry for help… Ghost, or no ghost.

The pic. above is taken from that particular news clipping. Although the clipping has seen better days I managed to get some of it scanned the rest I have added to, it adds a little atmosphere… me thinks!

I got myself in to a discussion the other day about psychics, and their unusual ability to receive messages from the dead or are they just very good cold readers. Assuming if this was the case (cold readers) then those individuals who claim to be able to talk to and pass on information from dead loved ones are, if not pulling the wool over our eyes surely kidding themselves to an extent that they actually do believe they can communicate with the dead. The discussion was just that, a discussion no one lost their temper or felt offended by their beliefs but an outcome was never reach.

Since that discussion I have had more time to pounder the question posed. Using myself as the guinea pig I progressed along a tricky path and this rightly or wrongly is what I came up with.

My first thought was do I have any psychic abilities the short answer is maybe, I do have a knack for being able to identify the good and bad, the nice and not so nice in a person from our first meeting with an average of 65%. Now, I am not naive, I am aware that a lot of individuals out there can do the same thing, so there is nothing spooky about that (or is there?). With my past history they may well be.

My next thought dirties the waters a little so I stress the next bit is for entertainment purposes only (My entertainment), so read on with an open mind.

Still using myself as the guinea pig. Let’s now suppose apart from being a more than reasonable judge of character I was also known to have had a bit of a mental health history in my past, nothing major, but never the less a mental health problem, or that’s what they put the problem I was having at the time down to.

Now, supposing many years later I was to confide in family and friends that my mental health problem, all them years ago, was about me feeling I could hear the voices of people I felt were dead relatives who had, to use a term you should be familiar with, passed over.

I admit to my family I never did stop having those unusual feelings and hearing voices, I just stopped saying I did and after a few years the psychiatrist told me I was cured, it had been nothing more than a psychotic incident very much like schizophrenia, it can happen to some of us as a one off, it had cleared and it would probably never happen again.

Now, this is my issue supposing I go back to the psychiatrist and tell him I never did get rid of those unusual feelings and hearing voices of dead relatives. I have come to see him now, years later, because I now feel the voices want me to pass on messages to loved ones. I think I would not be far wrong in my assumption that my doctor would assume my mental health problem had re-surfaced with a vengeance and I was undergoing another psychotic incident bordering on schizophrenia.

Don’t forget people, this is all hypothetical. I hope I do not have to spell out for you the reader where I am going with this. I have read we all, to some extent, have latent psychic powers. What I will say is why am I considered bordering on schizophrenia rather than having a special gift.

Having wrote the above read and re-read it, I now think I have gone a little like my mate Dave and I am talking out of my -rse (backside), but what the hell it’s just me and my weird imagination on the loose again… By for now…

For some weeks she had been aware of many strange feelings. One such feeling had given her a strange sensation. It was different, this particular feeling was like none she had sensed before and she was afraid it was coming for her. How she knew this only made her want to curl up into a little ball and hide. This strange enclosure she found herself in was her home. How had she arrived here? she was unsure, what she did know, it was her home and she was afraid of losing it.

Over time the strange sensation went away and was replaced by yet more feelings. One of them had made her feel unusual she became aware of a floating sensation, yet instinctively she knew these new feelings meant her no harm.

Not knowing how she knew this was of no consequence, only that she did. She settled back into her home warm, content and safe.

She had by now lost all sense of time. She awoke aware yet once again of strange feelings had the strange sensation returned?. Had it brought her to awareness once again?, she was unsure. What she still sensed was calm, soothing and steady, very much like the beat of a drum. She had surprised herself how did she know it sounded like a drum beating, strange very strange indeed.

Many weeks as you the reader understands time past. Disturbed by unsure memories of a strange sensation she had felt such a long while ago, forced him from his cocoon of safety. Feelings he was unsure of began to rise from deep within himself. Earlier memories came flooding back the being afraid, wanting to hide, something beyond her control was at work, her home was no-longer safe, there really was no were to hide, all she could do was wait.

Where had these powerful emotions and thoughts come from?, what was that sound?. Either way something was coming for him, there was no where to hide, all he could do was wait.

Time and time again he could feel himself tense. He knew he was no-longer safe in his warm comfortable home, what was happening?, what was this strange feeling?.

The harder he tried to focus on the strange rumbling sound the more the source remained hidden from him. This was of no comfort what was he going to do?. It was close now, getting ever nearer, where could he hide?, he feared for his very safety.

The sound was almost upon him was this all real?, was he in danger of losing his very existence?. He had nowhere to hide, he new it was coming for him and only him. Try as he might he could not understand why these feelings he was sure were not his own, should make him so afraid, what had he done to deserve such punishment. Afraid as he was, with what ever time was left to him he needed to be honest with himself.

Focusing his thoughts back to the first time of these strange feelings he became aware of a presence, unsure he pressed on. More memories, he could now feel her panic, her need to hide. His own awareness now over-shadowed her fear, it was as if these memories as strange as it seemed to him may have once been his own. Yet more memories came to him with guilty leading them, he now understood her panic, the need to hide, the waiting.

Not wishing her harm he had been happy to stay hidden, content in the knowledge they were one, but things changed she’d had a sensing of things to come. keeping it close to her she tried to hide it from him. She had failed she knew he had sensed it to. They were talking about her and it had made him fearful. The voices had been soft, understanding filled with affection. Did they not realise. It could not end like this, he would not let it end like this.

He now understood the strange feelings he had been sensing, she’d every right to be afraid. Not his memories, they had been her mermories the strange sensations, the need to hide, feeling afraid.

He was sensing her panic. He had not wished her harm. She was right he had heard them talking, but this time there was no fear, the voices had been soft, understanding, filled with affection, for him.

The year 1964 the day Wednesday early morning, the attraction was a birth not just any birth, this was the birth

time of a unique baby boy. A baby that would in times to come doubt why he had ever been conceived. This doubt unknown to him at this time, would grow with him over his young life, but for now all that mattered was his birth. His arrival here on earth.

In a heart beat, before the first breath was taken, he remembered killing his sister then it was gone… He had become the stronger.

Yet another weird thought from the penned imagination of Ben Robinson.

I was watching a television documentary a couple of days ago. The presenter was talking about how science had grown in leaps and bounds, and how technology to date had uncovered many things about the Universe we live in.

One particular subject was on the Big Bang Theory, the Earth way back before time as we know it, was the result of matter meeting antimatter (I think). The universe, way back then, was filled homogeneously and isotropically with an incredibly high energy density, huge temperatures and pressures, and was very rapidly expanding and cooling… this is considered the “birth” of our universe which eventually went on to include our earth. If this has wet your appetite then you can read on by using this link to Wikipedia.

Universe Expansion

Now back to my post about God, the Bible and the church. How did I make the leap from the making of our universe to a God like individual who’s teaching has been handed down through the Bible? Well, this book would have us believe that God created the world in six days and on the seventh he rested. We have scientists who would have us believe that the Big Bang Theory fashioned our universe and its effect is still doing so.

Okay so which one do you believe?. If you go with the big bang then you reject the seven days version mentioned in the Bible, so for the sake of starting somewhere lets go with the big bang for now. OK, so the part that God created the world is wrong. If so, then maybe other parts of the Bible that link to God’s creation may also be wrong.

The one teaching I am thinking about is Adam and Eve. The Bible teaches that Adam lived in the Garden of Eden (paradise). To keep him company he created woman from a rib bone in Adam’s body her name was Eve. The Bible goes on to say that Eve gave in to the Devil’s will and eat an Apple from the tree that God had forbidden Adam to touch… lets cut to the chase God expelled them both from the garden to where else, but good old Earth.

Now if the boffins are right then the teachings of Adam and Eve are also wrong. This got me thinking, could Adam and Eve have been just a bed-time story for children? Was this the way the church guaranteed their following?. This teaching/story has one of the Ten Commandments built in to it… (8) Thou shall not steal and if you do you will be cast-out just like Adam and Eve. As science marches ever forward no wonder religion has taken a back seat these days.

If you come down on the side of religion no matter what, then you will never believe the Big Bang Theory, or have I got that wrong? I suppose you could argue who/what put the matter/antimatter there in the first place, so the Big Bang could happen…

Here end-ith the lesson… Only joking folks…we can always trust in the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). To my mind it is not likely to create a black hole and for those who do not believe that, you’re entitled to your opinion and remember, if you are right then we will all go together… Or maybe our game warden will lock the cage door before we journey too far into space… That’s another post!

My thoughts this month are around something I have felt before, and still have no explanation for Déjà vu. What is Déjà vu?. Well, most all of us are aware it means to experience the illusion of having already experienced something actually being experienced for the first time.

Have you ever overheard your parents, or maybe a friend saying of an child “she/he’s been here before” Well, I was wondering if this could be the explanation behind Déjà vu. Maybe it is a past memory, maybe we have been here before, If you ask someone who has experienced it they are most likely to tell you of a feeling that is so deeply seated they would be willing to bet on having experienced the feeling once before. That includes me.

Is it a memory from a past life? that has surfaced because the circumstances have been, so close to the original it could not be suppressed leaving us dumbfound. If you have an interest in this subject then settle back, and see if what I think has any foundation.

Let me use my earlier life as an example. When I left school I had one thought on my mind, what was that I hear you saying well, from an early age I loved helping with the cooking, so it would not come as a surprise when I tell you I wanted to join the Merchant Navy as a ships cook. On leaving school I applied and succeeded in being accepted. I had a wait of almost 9 months before I would be given details of the ship I would serve on. Around the same time I had a friend, still have, that wanted to be a drummer in a pop group, so most of my 9 months wait was spent on going to different auditions with him.

Five months on we went to an audition that would change my own direction in life not only did my mate pass the audition the group were also looking for a lead singer, and guess what my mate talked me into singing for them. Over a period of a few weeks practice with them I ended up as their lead singer.

Singing is, and always has be a deep rooted enjoyment of mine. With all thoughts about joining the navy temporarily forgotten until a letter delivered brought me down to earth, so to speak. I had been asked to get in touch with Plymouth, for further details on joining my ship.

Looking back I was sure glad I had picked the Merchant Navy. After explaining how I now felt about the group and my singing to my parents, they agreed as long as I found work I would not been pushed into joining and thankfully because it was the Merchant and not the Royal Navy, I could send my ticket back without consequence.

One year later while I was out at my then girlfriends house two men came a knocking mum answered the door, and after a explanation and a little proof of who they were (Decca records) she invited them in to await my return.

Now, my girlfriend did not live on the door-step so to speak, and we did not own a telephone, so these guys waited. Sadly I guess I lost out after a wait of some 90 minutes these guys apologized for not being able to wait any longer and left. (never came back either).

Déjà vu well, just supposing this experience is from a past life. Is it possible that we come back to right our wrongs the first/second etc. time round?, or maybe we come back to go down one of the paths we would have gone down if we had been in the right place at the right time.

There are a number of times during my life where I could have gone down another path had I been in the right place at the right time, the example above is just one of them, so just maybe I will get to be a famous singer (we can all dream) after all.

Maybe the reason why we do not remember being here before is because it makes us easier to manipulate on return journeys always assuming there is a higher presence. Now this is where the water gets cloudy, if we did remember a past visit would we not then be that person following the same path unaware of a past life. That is until a situation in your present life intersects with a past life experience with such force that we become aware we have done, or experienced this particular situation before. Even though we can not explain why we feel like this.

Déjà vu it’s just a thought I think about from time to time, and it is blooming difficult to try, and put a thought into words.

Now there could be a logical explanation according to the boffins at Massachusetts Institute Of Technology. according to Deborah Halber, News Office Correspondent, a press release June 7, 2007 suggests that neuroscientists at picower Institute have identified a neuronal mechanism that helps us distinguish places we visit and at the same time helps us to identify quickly whether we have been there before. The boffins feel this could help explain Déjà vu.

Researchers believe there is a set of neurons called place cells. These place cells ignite to provide a map of the new area. Next time we enter the same area the same cells ignite making us aware we have already been here, so there is no need to relearn old ground covered. Now when we enter a similar place to the one we have already visited the same cells ignite to map out the new area, but overlapping occurs, enough overlap then leads on to that spooky feeling of Déjà vu a French phrase, my son assures me, it actually means ‘already seen’.

It is believed that the results from this experiment, using engineered mice, could lead to treatments for memory-related disorders, as well as, for confusion that some elderly individuals suffer from. There work was supported by the National Institute for Mental Health and the National Institutes of Health… Well I’m off for a cupp’a.
