If your song is not voted through to the finals (Eurovision) There is nothing to pay apart from a placement fee. Then you can sit back and enjoy the entertainment without feeling you have been used, as I feel every time I think of the money the licence paying public, of which I am one, is handed over by the BBC every year.

My feelings have nothing to do with our song performing badly after all it has been this way for years. The UK’s entry performed by Andy Abraham finished in joint last place which did not come as any surprise to me. It would appear that even Sir Terry Wogan expressed doubt that he would want to cover the event again, saying that it was “no longer a music contest”.

Why should we complain I hear you say Ireland votes for us so are we not also guilty of political point scoring…. The answer is no. I have seen every Eurovision for the last 10 years and I remember many times when Ireland did not vote for our entry, and other times when we got poor scoring from Ireland. The Eurovision has turned in to a political farce. Its time we got out and took our money with us. As far as I am aware we put the lion share of money into the Euro pot. along with three other countries (Spain, Germany, France).

I am not a betting person, but I feel sure if we pulled out so would the other countries. Our money could be well spent in other areas of entertainment. The Uk has many talented individuals, those that are in private tuition, and those that go to college. as well as other places to study. I am sure there are those who would give anything to be able to attend those highly rated schools. If they could only find the fee’s. So why not invest in the UK’s talented individuals

Not more than thirty minutes have past since I said goodbye to a neighbour friend. For more than an hour and 15 minutes I sat and listened to the age old question… Is Elvis Presley still alive?

My neighbour feels he knows without question or debate that Elvis Presley is indeed alive and well, living in Canada under another name. He also believes without debate that it was a wax dummy that lay in the coffin and was buried back in August 1977. He says he has information and photos that he feels prove to him that Elvis Presley lives.

If I remember correctly the official cause of his death was heart failure. Although, I do believe reading in press reports at the time that an overdose of cocaine and barbiturates may have played a part in his death.

Robert Gene West, who was known as a close friend, met Elvis at high school, and then went on with other bodyguards to write “Elvis What Happened?” I think the book was published just before the death of Elvis.

I have read a little over the years about Elvis’ death and have read that an autopsy was done immediately after his death. The finding of that report was that drugs had indeed helped him on his way and that this fact was hidden in the early stages after his death. The initial reports attributed Elvis’ cause of death as being a massive heart attack.

I tried hard to get my point across but all in vain. This strange belief that some individuals have that Elvis is still alive, and add to that the fans who do not want to believe he is dead, sure seems to be good for business.

Now I think about it, and a little off topic, I am writing this and breaking my golden rule but now I think about it, this posting is in many ways all about a healthy mind and body.

Anyway, I tried to put the above as an argument to my neighbour and why I believe Elvis Presley is well and truly dead, he just could not or did not want to know the truth. That Elvis Presley, his then living Legend, is sadly now dead. I say sadly because back in his early days as a young man… You were the tops.
